No matter how much you may want to, avoiding ALL stressful things is impossible, so it's important to learn:

What stresses you in particular and how to see the signals.

Ways to reduce the stress in your life.

How to cope, so you learn how to handle it better the next time.

It might take some time to figure out the best way to deal with stress. If one method doesn't work for you, try another. Don't just give up.

You'll find it's worth it to find the positive methods that work for you.

Believe it or not, stress serves a purpose

Stress happens when we react to particular events. It's the body's way of rising to a challenge and preparing to meet a tough situation. We usually think of stress as a bad thing, but stress can be useful:
  • It makes us get important things done. For example, being stressed about a test can get you to study for it!
  • Stress can make you deal with and overcome challenges.

But if you let stress overwhelm you...

  • It can make you sick.
  • It can become an excuse for unhealthy habits.
  • It can have a negative impact on important relationships.

If you feel like you may need additional support, there are professionals who can help you:
You will encounter stress throughout your life, so even though building positive skills to cope will take time, it will benefit you later on as well.
